Chapter 20

I woke up with Shayla in my arms sleeping beautifully. I slowly got out of bed so as to not disturb her. She turned over and pulled the cover over her body. I went to the restroom and looked in the mirror as I washed my hands. I actually kissed Shayla last night. Technically, she kissed me, but I got my lead in the second time. Her lips were so soft. She didn't even have on any chapstick, lip gloss or lipstick. I doubt she would ever actually put any of those on though. It doesn't seem like her, but she still has the softest lips ever. Wait until I tell Randy. I walked back to my room and shut the door. Her back was facing me as she lay in my bed. I crawled back in bed and lay beside her. I just might ask her to be my girlfriend today or I'll wait. Shayla slowly opened her eyes. "Good morning," I smiled.

"Morning," she smiled as she stretched. "I actually slept well last night."

"You don't normally sleep well?"

"Not really."

"Why do you think you slept well last night?"

"I don't know," she shrugged. "Maybe because I was sleeping in your arms.

"Maybe," I smiled. "You should sleep in here for often."

"Maybe," she laughed. "I'm going to go ahead and get ready," she sat up.

"What do you want to do today?" I asked and began to make up my bed.

"Hmm. I don't know. It's up to you," she helped me with the bed.

"You're the guest."

"I chose yesterday. You should choose today."

"Fine. Let's go to the arcade."

"That will be fun! Let me go get dressed, then after the arcade, we should go out to dinner."

"That's fine with me."

"Great!" She smiled and hurried to her room. I grabbed my towel and went to take a shower. When I got out, I went to my room to get dressed. I fixed my hair and put on my black loafers. I kissed the most beautiful girl in the world last night. I plan on doing it again too. "Michael, do you think this is okay to wear to the arcade?" Shayla walked in my room wearing form-fitting bell bottom jeans, a pink shirt, and pink Chuck Taylors. The jeans definitely showcased her hips...

"Wow," I swallowed. "Um, yeah." I was shocked by her outfit... I didn't know Shayla had so much in the hips department... My God... She looks good!

She frowned, "you don't like it. I'll go change," she began to walk out.

I grabbed her by the wrist, "no, no, no, Shayla... I love it!" I pulled her back to me.

"Your facial expression said otherwise..."

"I don't hate it. You look fantastic! I was just shocked at how good you looked. I'm sorry it showed differently on my face."

She blushed, "yeah right. You're just saying that."

"Oh, no..." I smiled and kissed her. "I promise you I am not."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive. Let's go get breakfast."

"Alright," she grabbed my hand and led me downstairs. I couldn't help but stare at her now accented rear end... Shayla has back for real!

"Michael?" Mother called from the kitchen.

"Yes, ma'am," I kissed her cheek. "Good morning."

"You woke up pretty late," she looked at the clock. I looked up to find that it was 11:30. I didn't even notice.

"Good morning, Mrs. Jackson," Shayla smiled.

"Good morning, Shayla-Elizabeth. How are you this morning?"

"I'm great. How about yourself?"

"Better than the night before."

"Did you sleep well with all that rain last night?"

"Yes, I did. Thank you for asking," Mom smiled. Shayla reached for the Alpha-Bits on the refrigerator. "Michael, what do you plan on doing today?"

"Shayla and I are going to the arcade. Then later, we're going out for dinner."

"That sounds fun. Quincy called."

"He did? When?"

"An hour ago. He wanted to know if you were coming to the studio today since you missed yesterday."

I gasped, "I forgot all about that."

"You should call him."

"I will," I hurried to grab the phone. I dialed the number to Quincy's studio and waited.

"Hello?" He answered.

"Q, it's Smelly."

"Smelly, what's going on? Are you coming in today like we originally scheduled?"

"Give me one second... I put the phone down and went back to the kitchen. "Shayla, do you mind if we go to the studio for like two hours today?"

"I don't mind," she shrugged.

"Thanks!" I hurried back to the phone. "Yeah, I'll be there for the scheduled time.

"Perfect. So, I'll see you in about an hour?"

"Yes, sir!"

"Good. I'll see you then!"

I sighed, "whew!" I've never missed a studio time with Q. This was the first time that's ever happened. I went back to the kitchen. "I'm sorry, Shayla. We're going to have to go to the arcade a bit later than planned," I grabbed the Alpha-Bits.

"That's fine with me," she stood up. "Mrs. Jackson, do you mind if I use the phone?"

"Oh no. Go ahead, honey," Mom shrugged.

"It's a long-distance call," Shayla warned.

"That's fine. Take as much time as you need, baby."

"Thanks," Shayla went to wash her dishes and went back to her room.

"What movie did you all see?" Mother asked me.

"Star Wars," I said as I ate my cereal.

"Was it good?"

"I don't know. You would have to ask Shayla that," I laughed.

"Why is that? Did you not watch the movie too?"

"Not very much of it."

"Why not?"

"I was paying more attention to Shayla."

"Really?" She laughed.

I blushed, "yeah... We were flirting the entire time."

"Wow! Nothing ever distracts you fromStar Wars!"

"Well, she sure did. Mom, have you seen how gorgeous she is? And she's so fun to be around."

"She is very pretty, Michael."

"I just don't know when I should ask her to be my girl..."

"When the time is right," she shrugged.

"When will I know that?"

"You'll feel it. Trust me," she winked.

I sighed and looked out at the gray skies, "ya know, it's snowing in Ohio and we have rain here. I think I'd rather be in the snow."

"Why is that?" She laughed.

"I don't know," I shrugged. "I miss Indiana, I guess."

"You're not the only one," she came to sit with me.

"Mom?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"What do you think of Shayla?"

"Well, for starters, I think she's a very beautiful well-mannered young lady. She's playful like you. She's very different," she laughed. "I think the two of you make a good match."

"You think so?"

"I know so," she sipped her tea.

"I love you, mom," I kissed her cheek.

"I love you too," she giggled. I went to wash my dishes and went upstairs to get Shayla.

"Matthew, he's amazing! We're almost alike. We're both playful. He likes Star Wars like me! For once I don't feel like a geek," I overheard Shayla from her room. I would really like to meet her family one day.

"Shayla?" I pushed the door opened.

"Hold on, Matt. Yes?" She asked me.

"Are you ready?"

"Oh, yeah. Matt, I'll talk to you later. I'm about to go... With Michael, silly!" She laughed. "Okay, bye." She hung up the phone. "I'm ready, spaghetti!" She got up and turned off the light.

I laughed, "okay. Let's go." I just might ask her to be mine at dinner...
