Chapter 25

I have to call Naomi back. I wonder what she'll have to say about this. That maybe Victoria is sick. Well, it's pretty evident that she's sick. Otherwise, she wouldn't have fainted. I still want to know what exactly caused that. I went upstairs and saw that Camille and Victoria weren't in our room. They probably went to Victoria's office for some privacy. I closed the door, put on some regular clothes and called Naomi.

"So, what happened?" She answered.

"My wife fainted." I sighed as I put on my shoes.

"Then why are you on the phone with me? Go to your wife!"

"She's fine. We got everything straightened out."

"Oh..."

"She's talking to our maid. She just so happened to go to medical school. So she's talking to her about why she could have fainted."

"You should be with them."

"Why? That's something private."

"When you're married, you change your 'I's' to 'we.' And what's theirs is yours. Did you forget that you stated you'd be there for your wife through sickness and in health?"

I sat up, "no."

"Then go be with her, because she needs you. Not me." Naomi hung up. Oh my gosh! I like her! She's so demanding and it's only turning me on more than before. I actually took her advice and knocked on the door to Victoria's office.

Camille opened the door slightly, "yes, Monsieur Jackson?"

"Can I come in?" Camille turned towards Victoria. She gave her the okay to let me in. I walked in and shut the door behind me. I sat beside Victoria, "sorry for interrupting. I just wanted to be here for Victoria." V smiled and took my hand in hers.

"Well, Monsieur Jackson, I was just telling Victoria the different reasons she could faint."

"Okay, well, I know she used to faint when she was pregnant with the boys and back in the day when she drank too much. Oh, and once she fainted when she went on that crazy 'diet.'"

"She's not with child, Monsieur. And she told me she hasn't had a drink. Although she started that diet, I assure you that wasn't the reason either."

"What else could it have been then?" I asked anxiously.

"Well, my first instinct was that she hasn't been eating right. As far as her fruits and vegetables, but Victoria assured me that she did eat fruit yesterday and she had vegetables on her birthday. Fainting can be a symptom of many things, such as: stress, a virus in the body, high blood sugar, suddenly becoming emotionally upset, being in a hot room, dehydration or standing too long. There are many other reasons... Mademoiselle, when you go to the doctor next week, please remember to tell him what happened."

"I will. Thank you, Camille." Victoria sighed.

"You're welcome." Camille walked out of the room.

"Victoria?" I turned to face her.

"Yeah?"

"Are you stressed out?"

She sighed, "sort of."

"Stressed out about what?"

"Us."

"Us?"

"Yeah..."

I sighed, "what about us, V?"

"Everything."

"Talk to me, V. Don't cover anything up."

"I kissed Joshua." She blurted out. I was taken aback a little bit... I knew that would come. I knew she would get me back somehow and someway.

"Wow, for real?"

"Don't say it like that! I know what I did was wrong." Victoria turned away.

"When did this happen?"

"My birthday..." Wow. My wife kissed Joshua. I wiped my lips hard. "I didn't mean to. It just kind of happened. "

"Kind of? No. It did happen, V. There ain't no 'kind of.' You really kissed him."

"I know and I'm sorry."

"Why didn't you just keep that to yourself?"

"Because you asked if I was stressed out."

"So kissing him has stressed you out?"

"No, knowing that our marriage is trash and me even thinking about kissing him, stressed me out." I don't know what to say. Well, I couldn't really say anything. Victoria kissing Joshua isn't even half as bad as what I've done, but damn. I didn't expect her to try and get back at me like this. "Michael, I am really sorry."

"Don't worry about it," I shook my head. "It was just a kiss. It was nothing bad."

"But it was bad. You know it."

"I know. I just don't want to make a big deal out of it."

Victoria looked at me as if I was crazy. As if I was stupid even, "so you're perfectly fine with that, huh?"

"It is what it is."

"It is what it is? Are you kidding me? So you wouldn't mind if I did it again, would you?"

"As long as you keep it to yourself, go ahead. You're grown."

"I'm grown? Is that the mindset you have when you're out cheating on me?"

I stood up, "I'm not cheating on you."

"Wow!"

"What?"

"So you just don't care, do you?"

"What I don't know won't hurt me."

"I can't believe this. You will never admit that you're cheating on me, will you?"

"Nope, because I'm not." Victoria rolled her eyes and stormed out. Well, it's true. I'm grown. She's grown. We have our own minds and agendas. I don't need anyone telling me what to do and she doesn't need anyone telling her what to do. Just then, my phone rang. It was Naomi. Perfect timing. "Hey." I answered.

"So, how'd everything go?"

"Alright."

"Alright?"

"Mmhm. Hey, why don't you and me hang out today? Like, go to a movie or something?"

"A movie? Are you kidding me? Michael, your wife just fainted. What caused her to faint?"

"She's stressed about some stuff. How about that movie?"

"Stressed out about what?"

Damn, this girl is getting ridiculous now. "About our marriage. Supposedly, it's trash and she did something stupid. Look, I really don't want to get into my personal life right now. So I'm going to ask you again, do you want to go to the movies with me or not?"

"No."
