Chapter 37
(Victoria's P.O.V.)
"What did she say?" Joshua asked.
"She just gave me some pointers and said that Michael is heartbroken and all this other stuff." I sighed.
"Well, he probably is."
"For what? He cheated on me, not the other way around. He has yet to be heartbroken!" I felt my temperature rising.
"Calm down, Victoria." Joshua patted my back again.
"I am calm. I've been calm. My thing is, my husband cheated on me with all these women and now all of a sudden he wants to cry to Katherine about how heartbroken he is."
"He's just realizing his mistakes, V. Now he realizes that what he did for three straight months was stupid. Now that he finally admitted to you, he's heartbroken because you won't talk to him or even give him the time to explain himself." Joshua explained.
"What does he have to explain to me, Joshua? Honestly? How much better they were than me? I'd rather not hear his sex tales." I rolled my eyes.
"You know what I meant." A frustrated sigh came from Joshua.
"I don't want to hear it until Thursday." I shrugged.
"Now you're becoming like your mother." Joshua made a face.
"How?!"
"You're being stubborn and although I'm telling you how Michael might be feeling right now, you're ignoring me. Keep that up, you'll end up just like your mother."
"You don't even know her." I was taken aback. Is Joshua suddenly taking Michael's side? I should have just went to Taylor's house. I sensed the whole "Man Power" thing would beat me at some point. "Now you're just taking Michael's side." I stood.
"No, I'm not."
"You are! You may as well be Michael's friend if you're going to take his side."
"I'm not Michael's friend, I'm your friend, Victoria. I'm just telling you from a man's perspective that Michael is hurt by his actions. V, men aren't all about talking like men are. But right now, Michael wants to talk to you. He wants you to listen. He wants to listen to you. Just like how you came over here, because you knew I would listen." I swallowed hard. I guess my anger took over. I'm not going to be one of those women who don't listen. I can't be. "Do you get it, Victoria?" Joshua finished.
"Yeah," I nodded. "Thanks."
"Come here, girl," Joshua stood up and embraced me in a tight hug. "I'm looked out of your here, Victoria. Don't go assuming stuff. Even if I was Michael's friend, I would take his side at all." Tears rolled down my cheeks. It feels so good to have Joshua here for me. "Love you, V. As your best friend I have to put you in check sometimes."
I laughed and wiped my face, "love you too."
(Michael's P.O.V.)
"Victoria, please answer the phone." I said as I got her voicemail again. Who knows how many messages I've left her? Sheesh. Both voicemail and text messages. It's literally taking everything in me not to go over to Joshua's house. I want to go over there and talk to her for just ten minutes, but I keep stopping myself. Not only because I know she wants to stay away from me, but because I have to stay here with the boys and I don't even know what to say to Victoria. Yet, I continue to leave her messages like I know exactly what I want to say. I don't. I can't even think of what I want to say to her. Maybe something along the lines of "I'm sorry, I don't know why I was doing it" or "just go off on me now and by the time you're done, I'll figure out something to say." No. Those are just stupid. I'd look like an idiot. I lay in my bed in the dark, staring up at the ceiling, tears streaming down my face. I messed up. Bad. Maybe I shouldn't have even told her. I should have just kept it to myself and just stopped cheating... Let me stop thinking about the "what ifs." They won't get me anywhere. My phone lit up and rang. I picked it up immediately expecting it to be Victoria. "Victoria, is that you?"
"No. It's Janet." My baby sister responded.
"Oh, hey dunk." I sighed, slight disappointment in my voice. I really hoped it was Victoria.
"Open the door." Janet said sternly.
"I'll be down in a second." I hung up and put some boxers on. It's midnight. Why is she here now? I hurried downstairs and opened the front door. Janet was upset. I could see it all over her face. "Hey." I scratched my head as she walked in. I shut the door and followed her to the living room. She didn't answer, but sat down on the couch, examining me. I sat in the seat across from her. Janet is pissed.
