As soon as I got to the hospital, I ran inside to the receptionist, "Excuse me, Miss. What room is Prince Jackson in?" I breathed.
"Hang on. Let me check." She said and started typing onto her computer. My boys mean the world to me. I pray Prince is alright. "Who did you say it was again?" She asked.
"Prince. Prince Jackson."
"I'm not seeing anything. Are you sure he was admitted here?"
"I'm positive. My wife told me he was here."
"I'm sorry, sweetheart, but I'm not seeing any record of him being here."
"Are you serious? This is my son we're talking about. Check it one more time. P-R-I-N-C-E-J-A-C-K-S-O-N. Prince. Jackson." She typed his name again.
"I'm not getting any record of him being here. I'm sorry."
"Damn it!" I walked out to my car and got in. Victoria did not just lie to me, did she? No. That's not like her. I know her. She wouldn't lie to me about my son like that. I got my phone out and called her.
"Yes, Michael?" Victoria answered with such an odd nonchalance to her voice that it literally irritated me.
"V, where is he? He's not at Good Samaritan. I checked twice."
"Oh, really?" Her tone becoming sarcastic.
"V, did you just lie to me about my son?"
"Well, you must have because he's not here."
"Shocker." She said with this sarcastic gasp.
"V! This is not a time to play! Where is Prince?!"
"Did it ever cross your mind that Prince is a child? Good Samaritan doesn't allow children in their hospital. You really have changed, Michael. You're dumb." She said and hung up. Okay. I deserved that one. I lied to my wife, so she lied back to me knowing I'd actually think Prince was here. For our son to be in a hospital, her voice was too damn calm.
"Can you see if Prince Jackson is here?" I asked the receptionist at Children's Hospital.
She typed in his name, "Room 3121."
"Thank you." I hurried to the elevator and went to the second floor. When I reached his room, Victoria, my Mother-In-Law and Mike Jr. were there. Prince and Michael were playing in the bed as Victoria talked to her Mother. I knocked on the door and walked in.
"Daddy!" Prince and Michael smiled. Michael ran over to hug me.
"How are you, Prince?" I asked him as I walked over to hug him. "You had me worried about you."
"The doctor said I had an asthma attack. But I don't have asthma, daddy!" I looked over at Victoria. Her eyes were red from crying earlier. I attempted to walk over to her, but she stood up and walked out the door.
"Go talk to her, Michael." Mom told me. I went out the door and saw Victoria sitting in the seat by the door.
"Victoria..." I bent down in front of her.
"Where were you, Michael?" She whispered.
"Where were you?"
"Calm down, baby."
"You've never lied to me before. What made you lie to me? Where were you, Michael. Just answer me that one question." I put my head down in her lap. "Michael...are you cheating on me?"
"No, V. I was in the studio."
"Michael, I went by there knowing you always go there to vent. What is causing you to lie to me? Do you not love me anymore?"
"Victoria, I love you, baby. I love you more than anything in this entire world. I'm sorry for all the lying. But...if you must know...I went to Dave and Busters to tell the manager I wanted the whole place closed down this weekend so we could celebrate your birthday."
Her eyes widened, "Michael... Oh God. I'm so sorry. I was just... Oh God." She groaned.
"Baby, you can't continue to accuse of me things I would never do. This has got to stop. It's getting old. Every time I'm out-"
"Michael, I'm so sorry. It's just...you smell like another woman. I can literally smell her all over you. How can I not assume you cheated on me when I smell another woman all over you?"
"Did you forget I have a lot of female fans who touch, grab and kiss me all the time?"
"I'm sorry." She whispered. "Cancel the party. I ruined it."
"No, baby. We're still going. All this assuming has to stop though. I love you, Victoria. Always know that."
"I love you too, Michael." Great. Now I really have to reserve Dave and Busters.
