Chapter 9
After 1 and I had that beautifully twisted session, she was out cold. I sat up and looked at my phone. Two in the morning. Damn. Victoria is going to kill me. Maybe I should stay here. Nah, 1 would kick me out as soon as she woke up. She hated waking up to people in her bed. I stood up, stretched and went to the bathroom to take a shower. Afterwards, I put some clean clothes on, kissed 1 on the cheek and left. As I was on my way home, I checked my phone. No texts or calls from Victoria. That's odd. She would have blown up my phone any other time. I would call her, but she's probably sleep by now. 3 or 4 didn't bother calling or texting me either. 4 probably cried herself to sleep. 3 probably went to see her brother. Tonight is just odd for some reason.
When I got home, all the lights were out. Yup, Victoria is asleep. I headed toward the kitchen to get something to drink. As I entered the dining room, Victoria and some other guy were living it up drinking wine at my table.
"Oh, hey, baby." Victoria smiled as she stood up to hug me. I hugged her, but my eyes stayed glued to the strange man sitting in my chair at my table in my house.
"Hey, V." My lips were tight. "Who is this?"
"This is my best friend, Joshua."
"Hey, man." He smiled, extending his hand out for me to take.
"What's up?" I ignored his gesture. "What's going on here, V?" I shifted my attention towards her.
"Well, Michael, you weren't here at eight like I asked, so I invited my friend over."
"Invited him to my house?"
"No. Well, first we went to dinner. I had a reservation for you and I, but since you didn't show up, I figured why waste it? So I brought Joshua along. We went to play golf and ended up here. We didn't do anything else, Michael. I assure you."
"Can I talk to you in private for a moment, V?" I nodded towards the kitchen.
"Sure...excuse me, Joshua, I'll be back." Victoria stood up and followed me to the kitchen.
"Why in the hell is he in my house?" I asked.
"Michael, I wanted some company since you weren't here." She replied.
"You could have gone somewhere else, but bringing him to my house, V? That was just stupid"
"Well, excuse me. I'm sorry my husband didn't come meet me at eight like I asked him to."
"This isn't about me, V. This is about the jackass sitting in my dining room."
"Excuse me? That 'Jackass' has been there for me when you haven't."
"So, you've slept with him?"
"What?! Michael, no! Why would you even think that?"
"You're telling me you haven't slept with him."
"I haven't. Now you're the one assuming stuff. I haven't slept with anyone, but you since college, if you must be reminded"
"I don't need to be reminded."
"You know what, Michael? Joshua was right. You have changed. And you know what? You smell like the same woman from last night. I'm not stupid. I know you're sleeping with someone else, Michael." She snapped and walked over to Joshua. "Come on, Joshua. I'll take you home." I overheard her say before she slammed the door.
"Whatever." I sighed and went to get a bottle of water. As I went upstairs, a migraine began to pound its way at my head. I probably had too much sugar or that stupid argument got me all riled up. I'll sleep on it and hopefully it will go away with the rest of my problems for the day.

I woke up to Victoria in bed beside me with her back facing me. Last time her back was facing me was when she pregnant with Michael and she was upset with me for not taking out the trash... It was minor, but it was major to a pregnant Victoria. She must really be mad at me. I have to convince her that I haven't been with another woman. I wrapped my arms around Victoria and pulled her close to me. I haven't held her like this in a while. Proves I need to get away from 1. Victoria began opening her eyes and stretched.
"Good morning, beautiful." I kissed her.
"Hey," she half-smiled and hugged me. "It's been a while since you've held me like this." She said into my chest.
"I know, right?" I laughed.
"Mmmhm." She nodded. I pulled her on top of me. "Wanna explain to me why you smell like the same woman from two nights ago?"
"Baby, I told you I have female fans who kiss and grab at me all the time." I laughed.
"So, they all wear the same perfume?"
"Maybe. It does smell good, doesn't it? Maybe you should start wearing it, baby. It smells great."
"Michael, cut the bullshit, okay? Tell me the real reason you smell like the same woman from two nights ago."
"You really want to know?" I sighed.
"No, I'm just asking you because it's good for my health. Yes, I want to know!"
"Fine, but you can't be mad at me."
"I can't promise you that."
I sighed, looked away for a second then looked her back in the eyes, "I've been trying to find a good birthday present for you and my thoughts were that you liked perfume. So...I've been trying some on to see how they smell. The one I'm wearing now is the one I was going to get you for your birthday. Apparently, it's long lasting." I waited for her response.
"Really?" She gave me a skeptical look
"Really." I stared back at her.
"Michael, don't let me ask you anymore questions, because I keep screwing everything up." I sighed a breath of relief. Remind me to ask 1 what perfume she wears.
